McGovern Medical School: Class of 2011
As we mark the 15th anniversary of our graduation from medical school, I find myself reflecting on the early mornings, long nights, and meaningful moments that shaped us into the physicians we became. Those years challenged us, bonded us, and set the course for our careers.
Today’s students are walking the same halls and carrying the same hopes we once did—but with financial burdens far heavier than ours. Tuition is now $27,000 per year, and graduates leave with an average of $145,000 in debt. Only one in five students receive scholarship support.
The Alumni Association Scholarship Fund is nearing $1 million—enough to fully support a student’s tuition each year. We hope to come together as a class to raise $15,000 toward this important goal and help close the final gap for a deserving student who is just beginning their medical journey.
A gift of any size in support of the Alumni Association Scholarship or the fund of your choice made between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026, will count toward the class gift and help the Class of 2011 come out on top in the fundraising challenge!
I hope you will join me at Alumni Weekend on March 27-28 to reflect on our shared memories and the legacy we’re building for the next generation.
Thank you for continuing to set an example as a McGovern Medical School graduate and considering a gift to support the next generation of physicians.
Sincerely,
Gloria O. Odum, MD '11
