Friday, May 17th marked an important day for our McGovern Medical School community—235 fourth-year students received their medical degrees and walked across the stage at the 2019 Commencement Ceremony at George R. Brown Convention Center. Congrats to our recent graduates!

Not only did they accomplish this great feat, the McGovern Medical School Class of 2019 also helped us surpass our goal for the 2019 White Coat Sponsorship Campaign, which, in combination with all of your generous donations, will allow us to provide each and every medical student in the Class of 2023 with their white coat! That’s enough for all 240 coats, plus some!

We are astounded at the amount of support we were able to garner for this group of incoming students (over $20,000 to be exact!) and we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you to all who have contributed to this campaign. We look forward to sharing more details about this year’s white coat ceremony in the coming months.

We are so excited to announce that with your support, every single student in the McGovern Medical School Class of 2023 will receive their white coat! We have officially exceeded our $18,000 goal again this year (by $1,285 and counting!), and well ahead of our deadline, too!

Your advocacy and support of our students is immeasurable: please know that each and every one of these students has been truly touched by your generous gift in support of this special tradition. This momentous occasion would not be possible without you--but it doesn't have to stop here. We still have 21 days left in the campaign, so there is still plenty of time to keep raising awareness and financial support for this amazing cause. Any additional funds beyond our goal amount will help fund future classes of medical students for years to come, so we encourage you to continue sharing within your networks through May 17th.
